Sunset Bay Outrigger Canoe Club is striving for a fully rounded membership base of developing paddlers of ages 10-70 as well as race training squads to compete at local level, with options to participate at state, national and international events. The local races for the zone which the club is part of, encompasses an area from Gladstone to Port Douglas, so travel to these destinations is a commitment which not everyone can accommodate.

To this end Sunset Bay paddlers are wishing to host corporate race series for any interested people willing to take on a challenge. Many businesses have excelled themselves previously in these events the outriggers have hosted, and the club invite those businesses and more to get in contact with the club to sign up once again. Media crews, professionals, workshop crews, public service, gyms... any group of 5 or more people are welcome...lay down the challenge! Later in 2012 we are scheduled to make this round of races happen, so there is time to come down and get familiar with the canoes and get some insider paddling tips.

Every Saturday morning 5.30-8.00am members will be available to help interested people achieve a taste for outrigger paddling in no pressure environment. Bring water, comfortable clothes to paddle in, sunblock, hats and stinger protection is advisable.

Sunset Bay also thanks our many sponsors and look forward to seeing some new faces taking a step forward to experience something that may push outside comfort boundaries, enjoy fresh air, some fitness and relish our beautiful climate.
